Empowering young leaders to change their own community for Christ.
"This new relationship with God really allowed me to be vulnerable with people. It allowed me to be kind, and be generous, and allow myself to care for myself and other's again... I want to bring this feeling to everybody else!"
Our hope to expand our City Life program into East Central Spokane is fueled by our desire to give life to more kid’s stories by introducing them to the incredible love of Jesus.
New Youth Center:
After months of prayer, patience and preparation, the doors of our newest youth center in the heart of downtown Spokane are open! Last week our staff hosted an epic kickoff. Gifted Christian rappers from all over the country volunteered their time and talent to put on a concert for over 100 kids. Our youth center is now open four days a week, just one block from more than 2,000 students at Lewis and Clark High School, and is strategically located as a refuge for the 2,000 more homeless youth in downtown Spokane.
On December 2nd, over fifty students attended our first MiniCon, a gaming tournament geared toward building relationships with a culture of kids who are often hard to reach, and therefore go overlooked in ministry. For the whole evening kids participated in a videogame tournament, played board games, learned how to draw anime, built their own live-action-role-playing dueling materials, tried epic virtual reality games, learned Dungeons and Dragons, and so much more! This event was a better jumpstart to sci-fi and gaming ministry than we could have ever imagined. We can’t wait to see how God continues to open doors to reach this new community of kids!
YFC Dreams: Juvenile Justice Ministry
JJM is one of Youth For Christ National’s main core ministries. YFC represents about 80% of all faith based outreach to incarcerated youth in the United States. Unfortunately, many of the kids that we currently serve are all too familiar with incarceration, and experience its repercussions at home and in their own life. The good news, however, is that God’s grace and hope isn’t hindered by prison walls.
As we reflect on a busy year, a year of great growth and expansion we want to say thank you. Your generosity has a longitudinal impact that will out-strip not only our lives but the lives of the kids we serve! When you act generously you act as Christ did, disadvantaging yourself for the benefit of those in need. Our staff, board, and students thank you for your partnership!
Friends, if there's one thing to be said about 2017, it's that God. Showed. Up! We are thrilled that this year Spokane YFC was able to extend it's ministry reach further than ever, and are beyond grateful to faithful partners and friends like you for helping make that happen.
At Spokane Youth For Christ we take your investment in young people seriously. We desire to be good stewards of the resources that have been shared with us, and are committed to transparently informing you of the impact that your investments have made throughout the year. Our annual report helps us do just that. If you'd like to take a snapshot look at this year's ministry and budget numbers, visit the link below.
